Reports to Executive Director

Job purpose
To assist in managing nonprofit’s day-to-day accounting and finance requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Create financial transactions including posting information to accounting journals or online Quickbooks accounting software from documents such as invoices, cash receipts, three credit cards, and paypal/square transactions.
  • Develop financial statements including monthly reports of cash flow, profit & loss and balance sheets, including P&L by class.
  • Reconcile three credit cards and Paypal accounts to ensure their accuracy.
  • Conduct a monthly reconciliation of bank account(s).
  • Assemble information for external tax preparers for the annual 990 tax return, to include 990T. 
  • Prepare city personal property tax return
  • Issue financial statements to Executive Director and the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
  • Collect time sheets and process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assist with submission and tracking of budgets and actuals for grants.
  • Submit financial requests and reports to state, city, corporate and foundation grant funders.
  • Reconcile donor pledges and contributions.
  • Others duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have at least three years of experience working for a nonprofit.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and communicate effectively.

Preferred:

  • Experience with grant management, particularly with requesting funds and creating budget narratives.
  • Strong accounting skills and knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software package.
  • Experience with creating Excel reports and data management.

Work Location

Work will be conducted at d’Art Center located at 740 Boush Street Norfolk, VA  23510.

Salary based on experience and qualifications. This is a part-time position.

Ceramic Studio Artist:

Description:

The d’Art Center in Norfolk is looking for a Ceramic Studio Artist to add to their d’Art Artist Network. This artist will report to the Programs Coordinator and will help manage the operational functions of d’Art’s Ceramic Studio. This includes teaching small or private beginner/intermediate/advanced ceramic classes, facilitating monthly glaze and bisque firings, facilitating weekly bisque and glaze firings during d’Art’s Summer Camp Program, ensuring that all equipment functions properly and safely, and will also be responsible for keeping the facilities clean, efficient and in working order.

This is not a traditional paid position. This is an Associate Artist and d’Art Center partnership with no specific required hours, and with non-traditional compensation. This partnership is perfect for a graduate student working in ceramics, or a professional ceramicist in need of facilities and/or a place to create and fire work.

Compensation:

An Annual d’Art Center Associate Artist Partnership at no cost. Benefits to the Associate Artist partnership include:

  • 24/hr access to the Ceramic Studio Artist to the ceramic studio. This access is granted to the Ceramic Studio Artist only – no guests
  • reduced commission on art sales from 25%(d’Art) to 15%(d’Art)
  • reduced commission on class commission

Requirements and Qualifications of the Ceramic Studio Artist:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of ceramics equipment, tools, and kiln operation, maintenance, and firing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of glaze
  • Demonstrated knowledge of clay bodies
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching ceramic classes and/or workshops to adults
  • Preferred degree related to art and/or a graduate student of a college ceramics program or art-related program
