Flowing & Flying: A National Exhibit of Waterbirds and Waterscapes

Saturday, August 22nd – Saturday, September 19th, 2026

Flowing & Flying is an all medium exhibition of artworks that feature waterscapes such as the ocean, lakes, ponds, rivers, wetlands, and swamps, and/or the birds that inhabit them.

This is d’Art Center’s 3rd Flowing & Flying Exhibit.

Tiny But Mighty: A National Exhibition of Small Artworks

Saturday, August 22nd – Saturday, September 19th, 2026

Open call for artists: Monday, June 1st – Sunday, July 5th, 2026. Submit here.

Tiny But Mighty is a nationally juried exhibition of artworks that are no larger/longer than 8” in their longest dimension. Artworks in this exhibition can be 2D or 3D.

Hanging art that includes a frame may not be longer/larger than 12″ in its longest dimension. This exhibition is open to all functional, non-functional, 2D, 3D, fine art, and fine craft in ALL MEDIUMS and ALL STYLES.

Fibrous: A Juried National Exhibition of Paper & Textile Artworks

Saturday, September 26th –  Saturday, October 24th, 2026

Fibrous is a juried exhibition of paper and textile artworks from across the country. What do paper and textiles have in common? FIBERS! The processes of creating both paper and textiles are very different – pulp and various fibers are pressed into sheets to create different paper types, while textiles are created by weaving or knitting the fibers together to create a flexible and durable finished product.

This exhibition will showcase the unique properties and artistic creations that can be derived from these two fiber mediums.

Mythus: A National Exhibit of Folklore Inspired Artworks

Saturday, September 26th –  Saturday, October 24th, 2026

Mythus is a national exhibit of artworks that are inspired by folklore and showcase the stories, legends, myths, fairy tales, folktales, rituals, dances, traditions (and more!) of multiple cultures from across the world. 

VIVID ’26: An Annual Juried National Exhibit of LOUD, BOLD, and VIBRANT Artworks

Saturday, October 31st –  Saturday, December 5th, 2026

VIVID is an annual exhibit at d’Art Center that features 2D and 3D artworks from across the country in all mediums that are exceptionally vibrant, bold, loud, and/or brilliant in color! We want our patrons to experience an EXPLOSION of color as they enter this exhibit.

Contrive: A National Exhibit of Manipulated & Reimagined Photography

Saturday, October 31st –  Saturday, December 5th, 2026

Open Call for Artists – Friday, August 21st  – Sunday, September 20th 2026. Call open soon. 

Contrive is a national exhibit of photography that has been manipulated, reimagined, and transformed using physical or digital methods such as long or double exposures, compositing, hand embellishing, and professional editing softwares (NO AI RENDERED IMAGES OR COMPONENTS PERMITTED).

THE VAULT

This one hundred and thirty-two square foot exhibition space is a historical bank vault within the d’Art Center and gives artists an opportunity to exhibit their work in a unique space in the heart of the Norfolk Arts District. All styles and aesthetics are considered. 

The Vault can be booked for Invitational Shows, Small Group Shows, or Juried Open Call Shows.

Artists interested in submitting a proposal for The Vault can download a proposal form here. 

The d’Art Center markets the show through its social media and patron base and provides invitational postcards/fliers. There is a 60/40 commission on sales (60% Artist, 40% d’Art Center).

Rental options are available for both The Main Gallery and The Vault.
