For two weekends in March, community art collectors looking for new homes for art they no longer want will offer those “gently used” original paintings, prints, photos and sculptures for sale at Hampton Roads’ first-ever Y’ART SALE at the d’Art Center. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the d’Art Center, 740 Duke Street, which houses over twenty artists’ working studios in Norfolk’s exciting new NEON Arts District.
Opening Reception: Thursday, March 2, 2017 ~ 5:30-7:30pm
Prices of works will range from $50 to $1500
The Y’ART Sale is the brainchild of photographer Helen Jones (who has a studio in the d’Art Center) and art collector Jane Goldman. Helen said, “ Like us, many people have picked up very good artworks over the years at art shows and art festivals — works they no longer have room to hang, their children don’t want, or they just don’t like as much as they once did. Such works may languish for years in attics, closets and corners, and they need a new home. With this sale, we are creating a venue for collectors to offer original works to people who are excited about purchasing and displaying original art in their homes”.
