Meet our Instructors for Fall 2016 and Winter 2017

    Ray Hershberger

    An award-winning resident artist at d’Art, Ray Hershberger has participated in many local outdoor art shows, taught art classes for over twenty years, and works in a wide variety of media including oils, acrylics, and watercolor. Ray studied at Clemson University and earned his B.F.A. from Old Dominion University.

    Anna Freeman

    With work featured in national juried exhibitions across the U.S. and in several books, ceramic artist Anna Freeman is an experienced art educator for all age groups, including the college level. Anna earned her BFA in Art and Design from Alfred University and M.F.A. in Visual Studies through the joint program at Old Dominion University and Norfolk State University.

    Ken Wright

    Contemporary abstract acrylic painter Ken Wright’s works have won over three hundred awards and are included in collections around the world, including those of two U.S. presidents. Ken earned his BFA in Graphics and Fine Art from Norfolk State University, and is one of the original resident artists at d’Art.

    Angela Tilley

    Navy veteran and d’Art Community Outreach Manager Angela Tilley has been involved with ceramics since 2011, completing many workshops. She has worked with Raku, porcelain, glazing, handbuilding, and sgraffito. Angela also apprenticed with a potter for three years, while stationed in Germany.

    Ken Garcia

    Award winning artist Ken Garcia studied with living master Robert Liberace, was awarded a scholarship to the Florence Academy of Art NY in 2015, and continues his research as a master copyist at The Chrysler Museum of Art. Ken earned his B.F.A. in Medical Illustration, with a minor in Biology, from Virginia Commonwealth University.

    Jessica Vanderpol

    An illustrator specializing in children’s books, sequential art, and fantasy/ science fiction, Jessica previously taught art classes at Yokota Air Base Arts and Crafts Center in Tokyo, Japan. She earned her BA in from Seattle Pacific University. Her work was featured in Seattle Pacific University’s Response Magazine, and she completed a solo exhibition at Yokota Art Center.

    Miguel Dominado

    Miguel graduated from Old Dominion University in 2014 with a Bachelors in Fine Art and Illustration. He taught drawing and acrylic painting at Michaels Craft Store in 2015 and was a portrait artist for the summer and did Halloween face painting for Busch Gardens.
