Flights of Fancy: Birds, Bugs and Butterflys
Mixed Media Fiber Artist
I was first introduced to surface pattern design while growing up in Rochester, NY where I learned to draw repeat patterns. From there I went on to Philadelphia, and then the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina to learn the many techniques involved in creating patterns on fabric. Over the years I’ve used these lessons to create one of a kind pillows, scarves, placemats, floor cloths and wall pieces. A plain white piece of fabric is my canvas and one layer of pattern is never enough!
D’Art has been my home for three years now and I find it a continuing source of creativity, inspiration, and community.

Printmaker and Painter
After receiving a BS in Biology, Anne worked as a scientist and along the way was captivated by the world of art and printmaking. Since graduating from Old Dominion University in 2003 with a BFA, she has participated in numerous shows, while living in Virginia Beach and maintaining a studio at the d’Art Center.
Anne’s love of nature and the study of ecology have influenced her subject choices as much of her work depicts the natural world of plants and animals. She especially enjoys exploring gardens and butterfly houses wherever she travels, always searching for new subjects for her etchings, linocuts and gouache paintings as she continues a series of gouache paintings inspired by her love of local birds.
