Chair Re-Done ~ d'ART's 2010 Summer Invitational Art Exhibition
On Exhibit: July 9 - September 5, 2010

On July 9, 2010 the d'ART Center will present Chair Re-Done, the opening of the Summer Invitational Exhibit.  The opening will be coupled with a fun beer tasting reception from 6-8 PM.  The exhibit will continue through September 5, 2010.

For those with long term memories, thoughts of the original d'ART Center Chair exhibit in 1990 will come to mind.  The 2010 version will not be a duplication, rather a re-visiting of a fertile image that is multi-layered in function, symbolism and metaphor.  The image of the chair stirs many references including those of stability, reward, punishment, authority, everyday, royalty, heat and support.  The artwork can be specific and/or universal in its content; two dimensional or three, open to any medium and style.

The challenge is to be as creative in presentation and expression as possible.  The goal of the exhibit is to present work which is thoughtful, provocative, instructive, engaging and distinctly fresh and inventive.

We are excited to work with City Docks restaurant at the Sheraton Waterside in Norfolk, VA. They are catering the openning reception at the d'ART Center on July 9, 2010 from 6-8 PM with yummy crabcakes and angus gourmet sliders!
