Come see the d'ART Center's 19th Annual Mid - Atlantic Art Exhibition "Open to all Media 2009", on exhibit March 6 - April 17, 2009.
This year hundreds of Artists from seventeen states submitted artwork
for jury - as far west as Washington, North as Maine and south as
Florida. The juror, Lennox Campello, selected an amazing body of work
including a large array of 3-D work and eclectic 2-D artwork.
The Mid-Atlantic, a national competition, gives the d'ART Center an
opportunity to recognize excellence in contemporary fine art in this
region and beyond and to value the work of artists with cash awards.
Presented by BB&T Bank , this year Mid-Atlantic juried 622 artwork submssions from 17 states across the country. Of those, 61 were selected from 49 artists for the exhibit making this a highly competitive exhibit. The exhibit is displayed in four of the d'ART Center's sky-lit gallaries.
Lennox Campello acted as the Juror of this exhibit. ‘In the many years that I have been jurying or curating art exhibitions around the nation, I have never ceased to be impressed each and every time by the diversity of the human mind when putting pen to paper, or brush to canvas or chisel to stone. And yet, after well over 300 exhibitions in which I have had a hand in orchestrating, I can say with an enthusiastic attitude that this exhibition for the d'Art Center provided me, the juror, with one of the most pleasant and interesting and intelligent juried competitions that it has been my honor to put together.'
Mr. Campello was so impressed by the caliber of the submissions that he designated recognition to an additional three pieces that were not included in the awards but awarded Honorable Mentions. Download the d'ART Center's 2009 Mid Atlantic Jurors Statement.
